Offline trip planner
A trip planner that works offline.
WanderCrew is an offline trip planner. When you open a trip, the whole itinerary is saved to your phone, so the day-by-day plan, the trip map, the Today screen, notes, and the packing list work with no signal. You can keep editing too, and changes to a shared trip sync when you're back in range.

The places worth driving to are often the places phones stop working: slot canyons, mountain passes, and the long two-lane stretches between national parks. That's also when you need the plan most, because you're trying to find the trailhead, the check-in time, or where everyone agreed to meet.
Plenty of apps can show a trip you looked at recently. WanderCrew treats your phone as the place the trip lives, and the internet as the way it reaches the rest of the crew.
What works with no signal
| Part of the app | Offline |
|---|---|
| The day-by-day plan | Works. Every day, stop, hike, stay, and note. |
| Today screen | Works. Up next, tonight's stay, and checking things off. |
| Packing list | Works. Your checkmarks save on your phone and sync when you're back in range. |
| Editing | Works. Edits to shared trips sync when you're back in range. |
| Trip map | Works, background included. |
| Directions | Open in your maps app, which works offline if you downloaded that area there. |
| Inviting people, the public link | Need a connection. |
How offline edits catch up
Say you move tomorrow's hike to the afternoon while parked at a trailhead with no bars. The change saves on your phone immediately, and a banner shows that an edit is waiting. When your phone finds signal again, the edit goes out.
Edits sync one field at a time, so your change to the hike's time doesn't touch the stop someone else added to the same day. If two people did change the same field, the later edit is kept, and recent changes shows the other version and who wrote it.
Nobody has to be in range at the same time. Each person's edits catch up whenever that person gets signal.
Nothing to turn on
- Free trips
- Live only on your phone. No account and no sync. The plan never needs a connection, at home or on the trail.
- Shared trips, on the Crew plan
- Saved on each person's phone the first time they open the trip. Open it once while you have signal, and from then on it's there with or without a connection.

Quick answers
Questions about planning offline
- Is there a trip planner app that works offline?
- Yes. WanderCrew saves the whole trip to your phone when you open it, so the day-by-day plan, the trip map, the Today screen, notes, and packing list all work with no signal, and you can keep editing. Its beta opens in fall 2026 on iOS and Android. For maps, Google Maps and Apple Maps can also download areas for offline use.
- Do I need to download my trip before I lose signal?
- There's no download button. Trips you create on your phone are already on it. A trip someone shared with you is saved the first time you open it, so open each shared trip once while you have signal.
- Can I edit my itinerary offline?
- Yes. Edits made with no signal save on your phone right away. On a shared trip they wait there, and a banner shows how many are waiting, until you're back in range. Then they sync.
- What happens if two people edit the same trip offline?
- Each edit syncs one field at a time, so changes to different parts of the trip don't affect each other. If two people changed the same field, the later edit is kept, and recent changes shows the other value and who wrote it.
- Do maps work offline in WanderCrew?
- Yes. The trip map works with no signal, background and all, along with the stops, stays, and route. Turn-by-turn directions open in your phone's maps app, so download offline maps in Google Maps or Apple Maps for the areas you'll drive through.
- Does offline cost extra?
- No. Offline is how the app works on every plan. Free trips live only on your phone, with no account needed. The Crew plan adds sync across devices and a crew, and shared trips still work offline.
The plan opens wherever you are.
